Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:

Chi is a mischievous newborn kitten who, while on a leisurely stroll with her family, finds herself lost. Separated from her warmth and protection of her mother, the confused kitten soon feels distraught. Overcome with loneliness, she breaks into tears in a large park meadow, when she is rescued by a young boy named Yohei and his mother. The little kitty is then quickly and quietly whisked away into the warm and inviting Yamada family apartment...where pets are strictly prohibited.

Library Journal Review

Over several decades, artist Kanata has specialized in pet manga, with a perfect eye for rendering cats expressively and true to their playful, purring, three-dimensional counterparts. Serialized in Japan's Morning magazine since 2004, Chi's Sweet Home has finally arrived on U.S. shores. Separated from her mother and siblings, the distraught kitten Chi-a Maine Coon, perhaps, given her pattern-encounters Yohei Yamada, a little boy who has lost sight of his mother. The Yamada family reunion is swift but not so for Chi, prompting an adoption of the kitten despite a prohibition on pets in the apartment. The ensuing stories, arranged in brief, titled chapters, portray the family's growing attachment to Chi and her adventures exploring a new world. Chi's uber-cute appearance and endearing acrobatics are enhanced by full-color pages and a toddler-like kitty dialect ("Evewyone went home"). Verdict Chi will draw in younger manga readers and adults who are dedicated feline lovers (and owners). Teachers seeking books for reluctant readers have a compelling new series to consider.-John Gehner, Urbana Free Lib., IL (c) Copyright 2010.
