Horn Book Review

The magical properties of a pair of scarlet stockings and a puzzling riddle drive the plot of this story about an orphan girl who lives to dance. After Daphne is adopted by a loving family, the riddle leads her to an actress who, in turn, leads her to ballet lessons and stardom. The story turns melodramatic, but all ends well.
