Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:

If your dad decided to send you off to pirate school to toughen you up, what would you do? If you're anything like the reluctant pirate pupil in this story who gets stuck on a ship with Captain Abdul, a hairy, scary scoundrel with more missing pieces than a secondhand jigsaw puzzle, you might mutiny! Horn Book Review

Maisy begins pirate school reluctantly but soon comes to enjoy the place where spitting is allowed and cleanliness is not. When she overhears the pirate teachers' scheme to kidnap the students, Maisy rallies the other kids. Using their new skills, they escape and become 'pirate pirates,' stealing only from other buccaneers. Cartoonlike illustrations fill the pages and propel the playful romp.
